How we handle your data
This privacy notice explains how the Bukmuk book-recommendations site (the “Site”) handles your information. The Site is a curated directory of children's reading lists and is operated by Bukmuk (www.bukmuk.com). We have built the Site to collect as little personal data as possible.
1. What we collect

Your book selections — books you tick are stored only in your own browser
(using
localStorage) so you don't lose your list on refresh. They never leave your device. - The “For whom?” field — used only as the title of the PDF you save. It is not transmitted to us or stored on any server.
- Your WhatsApp number — only if you tick the consent checkbox to receive monthly reading lists. We record the number, the time of submission, and the source of submission (this site).
2. What we don't collect
- Any information about your child — no name, age, school, or reading history.
- Cookies, advertising trackers, or behavioural analytics on this site.
- Your location, device fingerprint, or browsing history.
The main Bukmuk website at bukmuk.com may have its own analytics; please refer to its own privacy policy for that.
3. Why we collect WhatsApp numbers
Strictly to send you Bukmuk's monthly curated reading lists and updates about our library service. We do not use your number for unrelated marketing, do not sell or rent it, and do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Where the data is stored
Lead submissions are received via Google Forms and stored in a Google Sheet accessible only to authorised Bukmuk team members. Google processes the data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
5. How long we keep it
We retain your WhatsApp number for as long as you remain subscribed. You may ask us to delete it at any time (see Section 7). Inactive numbers (no engagement for 24 months) are reviewed and may be removed.
6. Your rights under the DPDPA, 2023
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 grants you the following rights:
- Right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction if any data is inaccurate or out of date.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data from our records.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time (we will stop messaging you).
- Right to grievance redress — write to us at the contact below.
- Right to nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the details in Section 9. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no cost to you.
7. How to unsubscribe
Reply STOP to any WhatsApp message we send you, or write to us at the contact below. We will remove your number from our list.
8. Children's data
The forms on this Site are intended for parents and guardians (18 years or older). We do not knowingly collect personal data of children. If you are a child, please ask a parent or guardian to use the Site on your behalf.

10. Updates to this notice
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated notice.
